Orientation Programme for First Year Students
The
General Library of National College conducted an orientation programme for
fresher’s on 02nd August 2018
to initiate them into the habit of reading and familiarize them with the art of
using library resources effectively.
The Principal of the college Dr. R.
Sundararaman highlighted the subtle pleasures for reading. He advised the
students to develop the habit of reading which sharpened the intellect and enriched
the soul. Students should widen their reading interest beyond the subjects and
syllabus to cover literature, novels, and history.
The Librarian of the college, Dr.
T.SureshKumar observed that adolescence was the most crucial period in one’s
Life and it was the right time to form the right habits which would propel the
students to higher planes. He noted that National College with a long history
of nearly a century boasts of a marvelous wealth of books on a variety of
subjects. He explained the free availability of various learning resources
including the thousands of books and journals on the subjects as well as for
competitive examinations, the free browsing facility, availability of online
journals and news papers and general news magazines.
The
secretary of the college, Mr. K.Raghunathan launched the issue of bar coded
Idendity cards to the students.
Retd.
Librarian Dr. P.Raghavan offered felicitations.
Selvi. J. Lavanya II year of zoology proposed a vote
