The inauguration of the Chemistry association
The inauguration
of the Chemistry association was held on 24th September, 2018 at
11.31 a.m. in Padmavibhushan Dr. V. Krishnamurthy auditorium. The programme began by invoking the blessings
of the God Almighty. Ms. P. Jayabharathi
of II M.Sc. chemistry welcomed the gathering.
The Principal- in-charge Dr. S. Sivakumar gave the Presidential address.
In his presidential address, the Principal-in- charge thanked the Head of the Department
for having brought such a great person to talk on a technique which is used in
all walks of life. He also thanked the
Vice-President of the Chemistry association Dr. M. Murali who he described as a
person with a a very good personality.
The Head of the Department
of Chemistry and Dean of Sciences, Dr. K. Vivekanandan honoured the Chief-Guest
by adorning him with a shawl. Dr. M.
Murali who is also the coordinator of Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
students’ chapter introduced the office bearers of RSC students’ chapter. They are: President: Mr. B. Selvakumaran II
M.Sc. chemistry, Secretary: Ms. P. Jayabharathi Joint secretary: Mr. B. Sasikrishnan
I M.Sc.chemistry and Treasurer: Mr.S. Thamizhvvanan
I M.Sc. chemistry.
The Chief Guest
Dr. S. Thennarasu, Senior Principal Scientist, and Head of Bioorganic and
Organic Chemistry, CSIR- CLRI, Chennai was introduced by Ms. P. Sangavi, II
M.Sc. chemistry. This was followed by a very enlightening talk by the chief
guest on the topic NUCLER MAGNETIC RESONANCE.
He thanked the Principal, the Principal-in- charge, the Head of the Department
and all the faculty members for having invited him to share his
experiences. He said that an association
like this should serve as a very good platform to encourage the students to
explore the subjects and to participate in students’ debates. He explained very deeply about the
fundamental principles underlying the technique of NMR.
Mr.S. Sathish of
III B.Sc. chemistry proposed a vote of thanks.
The programmed came to an end by singing of the National anthem.
